About
In the summer of 1991 I snapped a photo of a lightning strike at a beach north of Hatteras, N.C. I aimed a little Kodak 35mm point & shoot out the window of the family wagon during a thunderstorm, and managed to capture a single bolt of cloud-to-ground electricity on film.
I was so excited to see the results when I got the film developed, and I just knew I had some Pulitzer Prize material there. Sure enough, that shot, and another of a roadside wildflower won me the $2 first prize at the Culpeper-Madison-Rappahanock Counties Farm Show. Yep, two dollars.
Using a lot more than two dollars the following year, I bought my first SLR. And I started shooting for my high school’s yearbook. All these years later, I’m still excited to create images and explore new technology.
